Karsan Atak Electric
Covered 600 KM Intercity Distance in Spain!
Europe's environment-friendly choice with its electric transport solutions, Turkish producer Karsan participated in an important testing event in Spain with Atak Electric, the company's fully electric bus in the 8-meter segment. Atak Electric performed in a pilot test drive and roadshow event on a specially created 600-km route between Barcelona and Madrid. Thus, Atak Electric became the first electric bus to be driven between Barcelona and Madrid, despite its classification as an urban bus. Yielding successful results with Atak Electric in technical, operational and logistics areas, this drive was also important to demonstrate that with good planning, an electric urban bus can be used for intercity travel as well. The driving event was organized in collaboration between electric mobility charging solutions provider Circontrol and Karsan's Spanish dealer e-busKar S.L. , where Atak Electric successfully completed the drive in 14 hours with three recharges.
A provider of modern urban transportation solutions with electric buses in many European locations, Karsan continues to change the game with its electric vehicles. Karsan's Atak Electric bus was tested on a 600-km route between Barcelona and Madrid as part of a roadshow and pilot test drive event in Spain. In the pilot test drive where electric buses were evaluated in terms of operational, logistics and technical feasibility in long distances, Karsan's Atak Electric turned out a stellar performance also in the intercity bus class despite it being an urban bus. This testing event, organized in collaboration between electric mobility charging solutions provider Circontrol and Karsan's Spanish dealer e-busKar, S.L., witnessed the first time in history where an electric bus covered the route between Barcelona and Madrid. Yielding successful results with Atak Electric in technical, operational and logistics areas, this testing event demonstrated that with good planning, an electric urban bus can be used for intercity travel as well. The event also demonstrated that instead of urban buses powered by diesel engines, which cover about 200 to 250 km daily with approximately 56 metric tons of annual CO2 emission, using electric buses is crucially important both in terms of the zero-emission objective and passenger transportation activities in Europe.
Long route set, Atak Electric covered the range!
The test included preliminary studies such as locating charging stations and determining other requirements that may come up during a long-distance journey, and the first route was established between Barcelona and Madrid. The drive started from Sabadell in morning hours and took 14 hours, at the end of which Atak Electric arrived in Madrid in the evening of the same day. Three stops in Lleida, Zaragoza and Guadalajara were made during the journey for recharges. The "Raption 50" model fast-charging devices, manufactured and launched by Circontrol and have since entered in use in all corners of the world with over 3500 units, were used to recharge Karsan's Atak Electric. With a range of 300 km and a passenger capacity of 52, Karsan's Atak Electric completed this journey quietly with its 220 kWh engine, with no interruptions other than planned breaks.
Atak Electric offers 300 km range
